The off-season, a perfect time for travel

Fernie-Fox-Hotel-Fernie-BC-Octobe-off-season-time-travel

You may have heard that the off-season is a quiet time to travel, not as much going on, and that you’re better off saving your holiday for the summer and winters. But in Fernie, this is a perfect time to travel. With less crowds and maximum adventures ready to be taken advantage of, now is a great time to play like a local.

If you are wanting to capture the last bit of the ski season, Fernie Alpine Resort has extended their winter season, and is open until Easter Sunday, April 17th, 2022. Now is the perfect time to squeeze in a few more laps before summer heads in.

If you have missed the last of the snow, you can still enjoy:

  • Fat-biking – this is the perfect way to get around when you want to explore the trails but the snow is yet to thaw. You can usually ride right through to around May before you will want to switch over to your mountain bike.
  • Mountain biking – usually commencing around late April once the snow has thawed, you will be able to hit the trails with your mountain bike, right up until October. Fernie also holds a number of events and activities for mountain bikers straight through the season open for beginners right through to advance. You can check this out here
  • Pamper day at one of the local spas – there are multiple spas to indulge in all season round. You can relax all day, or pop in for a few hours for a quick relaxation fix before your next adventure.
  • Hiking – There are plenty of local hiking trails just outside our doorstep. Be sure to ask our team what they recommend for the conditions on the day, and your desired activity level.
  • Golf – the Fernie Gold Course is a beautiful 18 hole golf course, open from Mid-May. Rated in the top 25 of BC’s courses, it is a must-visit for any golf enthusiast or just a scenic day out.
  • White water rafting – is a group favorite for an adrenaline-packed day out. You can book your tour in advance with Canyon Raft

The start dates and recommend trail conditions will vary each season, so be sure to check the conditions before you plan your holiday.

Our friendly staff are also happy to help you with any suggestions for your stay and are always looking for ways to make sure you have the best experience possible.
