The Fox’s top 5 activities to enjoy this summer.
Summer is here and our doors are wide open! It’s time to get back out there to enjoy the sun and support your favourite local businesses.
Luckily for us, the Fox is no stranger to Fernie summers and has shared his top summer activities to do in Fernie:
Float down the Elk River
Jump into whatever floating device you can find, sip on your favourite juice and relax while the river does the work for you as you float away the summer days. You can launch at the beach by the RV park or by the north bridge (Leo T Nimsick Bridge) and finish up at James White Park – or go even further and dock at the Stanford Apartments.
Mountain biking and hiking
Fernie is renowned for its outdoor lifestyle, with some of the best mountain biking and hiking the Canadian Rockies has to offer. There is a diverse selection of trails that cater to all levels of experience and fitness, so if you’re new to mountain life or are a mountain enthusiast, you’ll be sure to stumble across a trail just right for you.
Sit and dine at one of our many Fernie restaurants, bars and open patios while enjoying the spectacular views of the sun setting behind the mountain range. If you’re looking to make your own epic summer feast, the Fernie Fox Hotel has a great BBQ and deck space for you and the family to sit back and relax during your stay.
Explore the local shops in downtown Fernie
Picturesque 2nd Ave, located in Fernie’s downtown, has an array of stores that add character and a hint of metropolis to the town. Ranging from bookstores and art co-ops to bike and ski shops, to clothing and specialty chocolate boutiques – Fernie’s downtown offers endless entertainment when you need some time out of the sun.
White water rafting
It’s a must this summer. Fernie has two companies to choose from – Mountain High Adventures and Canyon Raft Company – who will fulfil all your white water rafting needs.
To make this summer even better, we are offering our guests 50% off the third night of their stay. Just use the code word ‘STAY’, when you book three nights or more.
