Welcome to Peacock Hospitality

At Peacock Hospitality, our journey is as unique and vibrant as the peacock itself. Founded by Jeremiah and Marina Pauw, our story is one of adventure, perseverance, and a steadfast commitment to sustainable hospitality.

Sustainability: At the Heart of Our Operations

Our flagship, the Fernie Fox Hotel, is a testament to our commitment to sustainability. Under the leadership of the Pauws, we’ve integrated eco-friendly practices, aiming to be luminaries and visionaries in sustainable hospitality. Our goal is not just to provide lodging but to inspire and implement practices that contribute positively to the planet.

The Birth of Peacock Hospitality

Marina and Jeremiah’s paths crossed in 2003 on a seismic crew, a meeting that blossomed into a partnership both in life and business. Following the birth of their children, Mackenzie in 2004, Maya in 2005, and Jayden in 2008, they decided to pivot their life direction towards something more family-oriented and fulfilling.

Their quest for a new beginning led them to the Super 8 in Fernie. Despite initial challenges and no hotel experience, their determination saw them acquiring the property in 2007 for $1.9 million. Their hands-on approach, with Marina managing housekeeping and Jeremiah at the front desk, laid the foundation for what Peacock Hospitality stands for today.

Marina Pauw

Marina, born in 1981 in Nis, Serbia, experienced the tumult of war firsthand. In 1991, she, along with her brother and mother, sought refuge in Canada, a move that marked the beginning of a new chapter. After graduating high school in Calgary, Marina embarked on a career in the seismic industry, a field that
would eventually lead her to her future partner and the inception of Peacock Hospitality.

Jeremiah Pauw

Jeremiah’s story begins in 1975 in the picturesque town of Banff, Alberta. After completing his education at Judson International School in Scottsdale, Arizona, he returned to his roots, earning a Geology degree from the University of Alberta. His career in the oil and gas industry as a seismic troubleshooter and crew coordinator shaped his skills in leadership and innovation.

Expanding Horizons

In 2017, our growth continued with the acquisition of the Evergreen apartments, expanding our portfolio and reinforcing our commitment to sustainable living spaces. The transformation of the Super 8 into the Fernie Fox Hotel in 2020, at the height of the pandemic, was a bold move that reflects our resilience and adaptability.

Wim and Nancy Pauw Foundation

The Wim & Nancy Pauw Foundation is a private foundation in Banff AB, with a goal to reinvest in Banff, supporting projects that contribute to a more active, vibrant and happy community. Jeremiah serves as a member of the Board of Directors.
